Community advocates, following the Ventura City Council unanimous vote (7-0) to enroll in 100% Green Power with Clean Power Alliance.

Advocacy Tips:

  • Speak during public comment at city council or board of supervisor meetings

  • Email, call and meet with city council or board of supervisors

  • Speak during public comment at CCA board meetings

  • Connect with local environmental organizations and other clean energy advocates 

  • Send letters of support from organizations or businesses

  • Identify and engage key stakeholders in the community, including peer-to-peer elected officials 

  • Find a champion city council member or board of supervisor

  • Get a petition going

  • Write letters to the editor or op eds in local publications

  • Engage a diversity of constituents

  • Hone your message, make a concise, clear and compelling case, address concerns and objections 

  • Utilize emissions inventory data if available to show the emissions impact of switching to 100% renewable

  • And remember, you don't have to have expert knowledge about CCAs or renewable energy, showing up is what matters most!
